Our new fund facilitator will be current Independent Advisory Committee member Eileen Horn. Eileen works as a consultant, supporting local food policy councils and their partners to create strategic food system plans, secure funding, and implement innovative and inspiring projects. She most recently worked with New Venture Advisors, where she provided food system planning and policy support to local governments, nonprofits, and food policy councils across the country. Eileen currently works with the Kansas Food Action Network, providing technical assistance and support to 25+ Kansas food policy councils. She served for seven years as the Sustainability Director for the City of Lawrence and Douglas County, Kansas, where she founded the Douglas County Food Policy Council, the first in the state. She also served two terms as a Kansas State Representative, serving on the Agriculture and Health committees in the statehouse. In short, she’s a total food policy nerd. Eileen moved to Taos, NM, a few years ago with her family, where they garden, camp, hike, and are slowly coming around to the fact that chili/chile here does not get served over mac ‘n cheese.
