Eileen Horn is the Facilitator for the Better Food Policy Fund. In that role, she supports the Independent Advisory Committee to implement our participatory grantmaking framework and provides strategic direction around fund governance, development, and fundraising. When she’s not working on the Fund, Eileen serves as a food systems consultant, supporting local food policy councils and their partners to create strategic food system plans, secure funding, and implement innovative and inspiring projects. She most recently worked with New Venture Advisors, where she provided food system planning and policy support to local governments, nonprofits, and food policy councils across the country. She served for seven years as the Sustainability Director for the City of Lawrence and Douglas County, Kansas, where she founded the Douglas County Food Policy Council, the first in the state. She also served two terms as a Kansas State Representative, serving on the Agriculture and Health committees in the statehouse. In short, she’s a total food policy nerd. Eileen lives in Taos, NM with her family.
